Well if you have a laptop laying around, try out the vmware and android x86 way. If you're on a budget, use obdeleven - if you don't have a android platform - get vmware and a 5$ usb bluetooth dongle and run it through android x86 4.4. And thats coming from a guy who cracked a lot of software and I root all of my devices. The risk vs reward just isnt here to justify. There is 1 valid source for a european sourced 15.7.4 cable but again, it's a higher risk, if you use it while on wifi you might get it blacklisted by rosstech and if you mess up, you are out of luck for support. If you're buying a clone cable and it's blacklisted for 15.7.4 ideally you'd also need a valid vagcom dump and a atmega usb programmer in which case, why bother - get a microcan or a obdeleven. Using 15.7.0 on a mk7 puts you at risk of corrupting your display menus. The chinese cable won't run on 15.7.4 or on the 16.x beta. 99% of the clone cable on ebay, amazon, etc will only run on 15.7.0 and there is a massive buffer overflow bug in vcds 15.7.0-15.7.3. I have no dog in this fight but I caution everyone here against buying a clone vcds cable if you have a mk7 with the mib 2 display unit.
